Hi there Flowers

In answer to your first question, if your creditors meeting date has not yet been set, then you can walk away from Synergi at any time and find a new IP. The only downside to this is that the new guy will have to go through the fct find process with you again which will take more time. However, there is no reason why this should take more than 2-3 weeks.

In terms of your second question, this will very much depend on whether you have a house to protect. If you do then Bankruptcy might be best avoided because you may risk loosing the property if there is any equity in it. If you have no house and you job is not effected by bankruptcy, then I would seriously consider this option. Financially bankruptcy is normally much easier on you.

I suggest that you speak to someone (other than from synergi) on the phone about this. Why not try Thomas Charles or Melanie Giles who regularly post of the IVA.co.uk forum. I can also be contacted through www.jamesfalla.com

If you like you can always cont

I am in total agreement with Coco. If you enter into an IVA, one of the last things on your mind should be borrowing more money on credit cards and personal loans after it is completed.

The only time I would be thinking about taking credit having been through an IVA is if you want to take out a mortgage to buy a property. In this case, you are not likely to be able to get the best mortgage deal straight away. However, there is nothing to stop you taking a slightly more adverse mortgage initially and then changing to a better rate after say 2 years

James I wonder if you could answer a couple of questions for me please.

I have read the information you provided regarding Bankrupcy. My situation is two fold.

I am currently dealing with Synergi Partners regarding my IVA. My initial contact with them dates back to November last year and as yet no creditors meeting date has been set. I have read various bits on the IVA forum site which encourage me to walk away from Synergi if possible. Would you be able to advise me whether at this advanced level I can move away from Synergi and seek an alternative IP. As it is my creditors are constantly ringing and are now stipulating a max. of 2 weeks extension on various dates set.

My second question is whether an IVA is right for me. I have considered bankrupcy but am currently in a position to make some form of payment. However, my marriage is really taking strain with the stress we are under and I don't know whether my marriage will last another 5 years! I feel inclined to go down the road of bankrupcy so as to finalise this issue sooner than later.

I really appreciate any advise you could give me. I apologise in advance as I don't know whether this is the correct forum to ask these questions.

I have ready many posts where is seems are large number of people are concerned regarding their credit rating. I think after going through an IVA or BR lessons are learnt to stay away from obtaining credit, i could not care less if my credit rating never recovers i will never in a month of sundays want to go down that route again as it is so easy to get caught in the web of Debt.
